The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides healthcare services for all veterans of the active military, naval, or air service. The VA provides healthcare to eligible veterans through its nationalized healthcare system, primarily managed by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This system includes VA Medical Centers, Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and VA Community Living Centers (VA Nursing Homes). VA healthcare also utilizes community care when VA facilities cannot meet the specific needs of a veteran.
Veteran's Integrated Service Networks (VISNs)
The U.S. is divided into 18 Veterans Integrated Service Networks, or VISNs — regional systems of care working together to better meet local health care needs and provides greater access to care.
